About me
I am an architectural and lighting designer based in New York City.
I am currently pursuing a dual-degree Master of Architecture and MFA in Lighting Design
at the Parsons School of Design.
I aspire to use my training in Architecture and Lighting Design to develop a truly interdisciplinary mode of practice. My best work has always emerged when I actively learn and incorporate ideas, techniques, skills, and/or theory from other disciplines. Theater, history, art, music, science fiction, and cuisine are some of my many interests that have inspired me in this way. By actively engaging in and learning from disciplines within and outside of design, I firmly believe we can forge the way to a better, more holistically considered future - one where our environments can empower us to live happier, healthier, more comfortable, and more sustainable lives.
In the short-term, my goals are to become a licensed Architect,
and grow my skills and expertise in the discipline of lighting design.
My background:
I am originally from Tamil Nadu, South India. I grew up across Southeast Asia, spending time in Chennai, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore before I moved to the United States to attend university.
My experience across diverse cultures and environments, and my long list of interests and hobbies
have lent me a unique worldview which continues to inform my practice.
My interest in design goes beyond a choice of profession. Design has long been a core aspect of my identity, and is deeply tied to my personal and professional aspirations. For me, design is the path by which I feel empowered and compelled to enact positive change, reaching for a future of optimism.
I believe in equity, sustainability, integrity, and action. I aspire to always embody these values,
and to use my work to contribute to the future of the planet and the multitudes that inhabit it.
